Each year, the Fort Gordon Adolphus Greely Chapter of the Signal Corps Regimental Association (SCRA) awards four $1000.00 scholarships to deserving
recipients of the Augusta/Fort Gordon area. The scholarships are awarded as follows: one to an Active Duty Soldier, two awarded to High School Seniors residing
in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA), and one awarded to the Spouse of an Active Duty Soldier assigned to Fort Gordon.
The Scholarship Awards are named in memory of the late LTC Jeanne E. Hutchison, who died after a brief illness at the Westchester Medical Center
February 26, 2009; CSM Ray D. Lane, DISA Command Sergeant Major, who died after a brief illness on March 4, 2010 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC;
SFC Robert E. Dunham assigned to 1st Brigade Transition Team and attached to the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas; who died
May 24, 2007 in Baghdad of wounds sustained when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated near his vehicle and SSG Justin M. DeCrow, who was tragically killed in
the events at Fort Hood, Texas on Thursday, November 5, 2010.
These scholarships demonstrate our extreme commitment and pride in assisting soldiers and students in the pursuit of furthering their education. We believe
that the late LTC Jeanne E. Hutchison, CSM Ray D. Lane, SFC Robert E. Dunham and SSG Justin M. DeCrow would be very pleased in the way we are honoring their names for
their sacrifices and service to our great nation.
