Golden Harvest Food Bank Volunteers

Fort Gordon soldiers volunteer their time and talents at the Golden Harvest Food Bank food sorting center and the soup. We 6 individuals volunteered, we will still need 9-14 more people to step up and assist in the 9 August 09 event. We are also asking for donations or for you to start a Unit Can Food Drive to support this organization.

The Master's Table is open 7 days a week, 365 a year to serve lunch. Volunteer teams are needed to sponsor days and individuals are needed as fill-ins. Volunteers prepare and serve food for an average of 300 meals a day. The building seats only 45 people so most homeless have less than 15 minutes to go through the line and eat. The organization is raising money to build a new Master's Soup Kitchen as the current building has been there since 1991 and its patronage has increased by 300%.

The hours are 8 am to 1:30 pm, for the kitchen and serving time is 11 am to 12:30 pm. All should arrive at 0930 and expect to stay until 1400.

Please join us at 842 Fenwick St, Augusta, GA 30901-2916 (between 8th and 9th streets behind the post office). Only the first 20 confirmed with SSG Anderson will be able to participate. Although, all those with donations are asked to send representatives down the day of the event.
